Product Description

This hard to find hologram SML brings the wishes of hope and luck with its exquisite hologram!

Sold out at the Mint! This unique coin features a special hologram rendition of the classic Canadian Silver Maple Leaf design, beautifully rendered in the RCM's proprietary hologram technology, and topped off with a Hope privy mark! Appropriately, the privy mark (also executed in a hologram!) bears the Chinese characters translating as "Auspicious Maple". When you add Maple Leafone of these pure silver gems to your collection, you'll have the good fortune to own a sold-out Pure Silver Maple Leaf, struck with a reverse proof finish and hologram with an aesthetically beautiful design!

Hologram coins are some of the most highly collected in the entire Silver Maple Leaf series, one of the best-known and most widely collected precious metal coin series in the world. First minted in 1988, Canada's own SML is the purest silver coin ever struck, and has the highest face value, a full five dollars, as well! This Hologram SML represents a departure from the norm in several ways:

    • It has a reverse proof finish.
    • It has a privy mark (with Chinese characters).
    • It has a hologram (including the privy mark!).

For type collectors, please note that the following portraits of Queen Elizabeth II have appeared on Silver Maple Leaf coins:

1988-1989  2nd effigy by Arnold Machin
  1990-2003  3rd effigy by Dora de Pédery-Hunt
2004-pres.  4th effigy by Susanna Blunt

Technology Note
The Royal Canadian Mint leads the world with its proprietary hologram technology, in which the hologram is actually minted on the coin. The coin comes alive and the colors of the maple leaves shimmer and shift as you tilt the coin. No static, two dimensional images can do the wonder and beauty of these holograms justice - they truly have to be seen in person to be fully appreciated!
