What's all the fuss about, er, I mean, how do we love thee? Let us count the ways...
• The Mint has imposed a limit of 3 per collector (go ahead, ask yourself why)! But we have no limit at the present.
• High face value.
• Limited mintage - only 1 in 135 Canadians can ever own one! (And what does that leave for the rest of the world?!?!)
• Significant precious metal content.
• Minted in the purest silver available in the world - only the Royal Canadian Mint strikes four 9s fine silver coins!
• The first $20 Commemorative release sold out in mere days!
• Handsome specimen finish - unique to the RCM!
• Simple yet evocative artistry, designed and engraved by master illustrator and artist Jason Bouwman - the pedigree doesn't get any finer than that!
• Symbolic design - the modern canoeist is reflected in the water by his Native American ancestor paddling a birch bark canoe. Read the full story and the artists' statement below!

No-Exposure Proposal
Precious silver, a limited mintage, and a $20 denomination - here's a no-risk proposition if there ever was one! With economists becoming more and more anxious about the rising debt levels of Western nations, the timing couldn't be better. (Think about the incredibly huge federal budget deficit, all the states' financial problems, and the recent defaults in Europe.) The worry of fiat (paper) money ending up worthless also contributes to the ongoing rise in popularity of precious metals. Well, here's some relief - a precious metals coin with a high face value, too!

Consider just this one simple fact - we're selling this unique Silver Maple Leaf coin at a price that approaches its on-the-table, in-your-hand value - the $20 denomination plus the $10.00 spot value of the silver (at current (as of this writing) $40 per ounce silver) is essentially its price in the Special Quantity Discount 10-Pack!

It Simply Adds Up
Do the math:   High Face Value + Significant Precious Metal Content + Indian Theme + Mintage Limit = No-Risk Winner

The Artist's Statement
What is the meaning of this symbolic coin? What did the artist intend? We went straight to the source - artist Jason Bouwman. Here's what he had to say:

Voyageurs in a canoe    The canoe has become as much a part of the Canadian visual
lexicon as the Canada goose, the beaver and the maple leaf.

This design shows a young person enjoying a recreational outing.
The boy breaks from paddling to dip his hand in the water...and
touches the past - the reflection reveals an early native paddler (or
voyageur) in a traditional birch-bark canoe as it also appears on
the early silver dollar of 1935. This concept is both intimate and
sentimental and is striking in its unique composition. It tells a story
of respecting our ancestry and sharing a love of this land.

Canada 2011 $20 Silver Canoe PackageThe Specimen Finish
This coin features the uniquely-Canadian "specimen" finish, a three-fold combination of different finishes. The design (raised area or relief) includes both brilliant and mirrored surfaces, while the fields (background) are subtly striated, resulting in a contrasting, matte appearance. No other mint in the world employs the specimen finish.
