Product Description

The world’s smallest, purest gold proof features a cute chipmunk eating an acorn on this beautiful, low-mintage gem!

Sold out at the Mint!Yes, it's a gold quarter! In an effort to make proof gold coins affordable for everyone, the Royal Canadian Mint has just announced the fifth release in its smallest gold coin series ever, the pure gold chipmunk! Aware that rising gold prices have made purchases of this most-desirable of precious metals prohibitive for many who could previously easily afford gold, the Mint has responded with this reasonably priced investment piece, with a beautiful animal motif - minted in gold that's 99.99% pure! (Would you believe, less than a decade ago one could get an ounce of gold for less than $275!) Previous Canadian half-gram gold animals (including the Caribou Gold Proof,  the Cougar Gold Proof, and the Hummingbird Gold Proof) sold out handily at the Mint - get yours today!

The chipmunk is bold, energetic and seemingly fearless - all character traits that have charmed animal lovers, frustrated a few gardeners and inspired artists, animators and photographers alike.  Canadian wildlife artist Tony Bianco succinctly captures the chipmunk’s endearing expression with this side profile view. The contrasting stripes along his arched back stand out as they lead down to the chipmunk’s soft tail. The chipmunk pauses, his ears attentive for approaching sounds, as he holds his prize in his agile front paws: an acorn, which might soon be tucked away in the chipmunk’s cheeks and brought back to his burrow.

Investment Note
The gold is pure - four 9s pure (.9999), in fact. And it's affordable. Previously, the smallest gold coin minted by the Royal Canadian Mint was the 1/25 ounce pure gold proof, and these always sell well. But the mintage limit for this new, half gram size of gold coin is only 10,000 - certain to sell out. Previous Canadian half-gram gold animals (including the Caribou Gold Proof,  the Cougar Gold Proof, and the Hummingbird Gold Proof) sold out handily at the Mint. Don't miss the boat - get this affordable gold proof while the gettin's good!
