Sold out at the Mint!
In combining the hand-blown beauty of Murano Venetian glass with its unique colorization process, the Royal Canadian Mint has created a world first! Each delicate Leopard Frog resting on a water lily pad is handcrafted and hand blown by master glassmaker Giuliano Donaggio in Murano, Italy, with a second technology, the Mint's proprietary colorization, thrown in for good measure! Struck in the purest silver in the world with a proof finish, the mintage limit is only 12,500 - far too few to satisfy worldwide demand. A quick sell out at the Mint (like the previous three years) was expected and has occurred!

A close up view of a white peachy pink, blossoming water lily flower, with yellow stamens. The Beautiful and Fragrant Water Lily
The water lily (Nymphaea odorata, also known as the lotus flower, beaver root and fragrant water lily) is an exceptionally beautiful water plant, crowning North American lakes and waterways from late spring to mid-autumn. It is famous for its showy, pinkish white flowers and round green leaves that can reach more than a foot (30 cm) in diameter. The flowers are radially symmetric with prominent yellow stamens and many petals. This particular water lily gets its Latin scientific name odorata from its exceptionally fragrant blossoms.

Each flower blooms for only three days, opening in the morning and closing at night. Its attractive cup-like form is designed for an unique pollination process. On the first day, a sweet-smelling fluid is released to attract pollen-laden insects that are washed clean and fertilize the stigmas. On the second and third days, the flower releases pollen which is carried away by insects that visit the plant. After this brief blooming period, the plant’s stalks recoil, thereby pulling the flower under water where its seeds mature and are released into the lake bed.
