Product Description

Celebrate Native American art and culture, respecting the salmon and the circle of life, with two technologies (color and hologram), making this beautiful, affordable, low mintage pure silver proof a keeper!

The second in the Royal Canadian Mint's extremely popular Native American Art program bring us salmon, representing the circle of life! What a beautifully stunning (and unexpected) theme! Here's a rare Native American work of craftsmanship that brings together ancient Indian heritage with modern technology to create a truly unique work of art! The River Salmon combines two outstanding, proprietary technologies (colorization and hologram!) on one coin - to dramatic and artistic effect! Four salmon are positioned in a circular pattern, converging near the center of the image, with clusters of roe between them – an allusion to the salmon’s cycle of life. Struck into the field, a full hologram creates a shimmering background that mimics the reflective qualities of a river in the sunlight. This effect is further enhanced by the application of color to the fish and roe. The hologram technology, creating the running waters, captures the full spectrum, a rainbow of colors, to shimmer and scintillate as the coin is tilted back and forth! The low mintage of only 10,000 and the extremely affordable price guarantee a quick sell-out of this artistic, pure silver proof featuring a wonderful Native American theme!

Investment Note
A low mintage of only 10,000, intricately colored and hologrammed, and extremely affordable! Consider too the unique Native American subject - how many salmon coins are there out there, anyway? The first in the Native American Art program series, the Dreamcatcher, sold out at the Mint in record time. We see a bright future for this intriguing silver proof!

An Original Work of Art
Designed by Coast Salish artist Darlene Gait, the image features original artwork that pays tribute to the salmon – a fish that has long been revered by the Native Americans of Canada’s West Coast. The image is framed with a polished band upon which is engraved the words CANADA, the face value of 10 DOLLARS and the year  of issue 2014.

Technology Note - Hologram
The Royal Canadian Mint leads the world with its proprietary hologram technology, in which the hologram is actually minted on the coin. The coin comes alive and the colors of the sky shimmer and shift as you tilt the coin. No static, two dimensional images can do these holograms justice - they truly have to be seen in person to be fully appreciated!
