Product Description

Celebrate Canada's 150th with this incredibly affordable coin, struck in the purest silver in the world, that tells the story of Canada! The Spirit of Canada stretches from sea to sea, a great nation represented on this single precious metal specimen with an unusual denomination! Stock up today!

They are the timeless scenes that have come to represent Canada: the rugged coastline; the lakes and forests that give it a wild, untamed quality; the agricultural landscape of the Prairies; the Rocky Mountains that once made the land seem unfathomable; and the Arctic emblems of “the True North strong and free.” From one coast to another, Canadians share a common iconography that powerfully reflects our history, geography, and natural legacy. Each of the visual elements on the coin’s reverse carries deep meaning; but when combined as one, they convey the soaring spirit of a nation, and the national pride that unites all those who call Canada “home.”

This pure silver coin is securely enclosed in an unique folder-style packaging that can either be stored for posterity or displayed with pride on a desk, credenza, table or mantle! To share with family and friends, simply pop out the easel on the back and it becomes a collectible piece of art! Such a meaningful legacy piece and a sure conversation-starter, it's amazing!

The design by Steven Hepburn gives us a cross-country journey that ties together some of Canada’s most iconic images, all of which have come to define the Canadian experience and the landscape itself. The upper portion features that celebrated emblem of Canada’s Pacific coast, the orca or killer whale. The scene transitions smoothly to the northern coastline of the Canadian Arctic, which is represented by an inukshuk and a polar bear with cub. Beneath these are the majestic Rocky Mountains, which once made the land seem impenetrable to early European explorers. The peaks tower over the vast boreal forest on the left, which stretches across much of Canada, and the agricultural landscape of the Prairie provinces on the right, where a tractor is at work in a hay field. Atlantic Canada is represented by a Nova Scotian/New Brunswick Herring Seiner, which slightly overlaps the stirring image of a raised Canadian flag blowing in the wind. Finally, the nation’s northern climate is represented by the heartwarming image of two youths playing Canada’s beloved national pastime and all-purpose winter sport: hockey! So Many Icons - An All-Encompassing, Patriotic Design!

The Specimen Finish
Canadian_Flag.jpgThis coin features the uniquely-Canadian "specimen" finish, a three-fold combination of different finishes. The design (raised area or relief) includes both brilliant and mirrored surfaces, while the fields (background) are subtly striated, resulting in a contrasting, matte appearance. No other mint in the world employs the specimen finish.
