A lone wolf in the snow, howling to its pack.An Outstanding Design - And An Original Work of Art!
The design by Canadian artist Tony Bianco features a superb engraved portrait of a pack of timber wolves, each rendered in a slightly different level of frosted cameo proof finish.
The unique perspective transports the viewer into the midst of a pack of timber wolves out in the Canadian wilderness. This unique “insider” access allows for a rare close-up of three pack members, with two wolves facing right while the other in the foreground faces left. A side-profile view allows for a close examination of each wolf’s features, which are rendered in finely detailed engraving with advanced shading techniques that give the design a remarkably life-like appearance. Even the engraved texture of the fur conveys movement, as the wolves tilt their heads in unison towards the sky to release their howls into the night air.

The Timber Wolf
It's a true thrill to wildlife lovers when they catch a glimpse of the mythic wolf in the wild! Although they were held in high esteem for eons by Native Americans because of their spirits, wolves have been eradicated throughout most their range in North America, partly by hunters for trophies, and partly by ranchers as pests. However, wolves have been making a comeback recently and have been reintroduced to several locations, including national parks. Wolves play an important role by preying on big game animals and helping to control their population, including eliminating aged and diseased animals. Though they hunt in packs, wolves do not view humans as prey.

WolfThe largest member of the canine family, the Grey Wolf varies in color from grizzled gray or black to pure white. This animal tends to live, travel and hunt in a pack, which usually includes the alpha mother and father, their pups and several younger animals. Grey Wolves develop close relationships and strong social bonds. They often demonstrate deep affection for other members of their pack, and may even sacrifice themselves to protect the family unit!

The howl of a wolf pack sends shivers down even the most stalwart spine. Wolves traverse vast distances in their territory each day, seeking to bring down their prey, including animals much larger than themselves, such as deer, moose and caribou! Some wildlife experts believe that their howling - that eerie calling card that is unique to this species - is a key element of territory establishment, acting both as a warning to unaffiliated wolves and a call to assemble to the members of the pack itself.
