On July 1, 2017, Canada celebrated the 150th anniversary of Confederation - the 150th birthday of a great nation! To commemorate this very special occasion, we bring you this truly unique coin that could only have been created and designed by the Royal Canadian Mint.

Investment Opportunity! As Canadians reflect on their 150-year journey since Confederation, the Royal Canadian Mint looks back at a key milestone that is rooted in history - Canada's first legal tender gold coin minted in Ottawa. This exclusive numismatic treasure re-creates the first Canadian gold coin struck in 1912 in one kilogram of 99.99% pure silver, featuring selective gold plating that adds an elegant touch of its original golden hue. Luxuriously presented in a sold Canadian maple wood display case.

Availability Note - This coin was just announced by the Mint, with delivery not scheduled until November at the earliest. It therefore must be placed on an order of its own. Because this coin is sold out at the Mint, prepayment is required.

Coat of Arms of CanadaFabulous Features!
 - A MINT MILESTONE: An extraordinary commemoration of the first Canadian gold coin, struck in 1912, minted this time around in an impressive 1 kg of 99.99% pure silver that makes this coin almost FIVE times larger than the original.
 - LUXURIOUSLY ENHANCED: Struck up to four times to ensure a crisp impression, the precision-engraved Coat of Arms (as it appeared in 1912) is beautifully enhanced with selective gold plating, as are the rim and the Queen's portrait - a fitting ode to a golden chapter in early Canadian history!
 - A CANADA 150 SPECIAL EDITION: One of the very few investment-grade coins in the Canada 150 program, this unforgettable silver kilo includes the official Canada 150 logo as a privy mark - a symbolic element to bridge past and present.
 - EXTREMELY LIMITED AVAILABILITY: With a mintage of just 500 coins worldwide, this beauty is a prestigious collecting opportunity that carries all the weight of history, but with the refined artistry and precision of modern craftsmanship.

The design features a faithful reproduction of W. H. J. Blackmore’s design for the first Canadian gold coin. The focal point is the Canadian coat of arms, as it appeared before 1921: a quartered shield composed of the provincial arms of the Dominion of Canada (Ontario, Quebec, Nova Scotia and New Brunswick). Beautifully framed by a wreath of maple boughs, the coat of arms is resplendent in selective gold plating that mimics the original coin’s golden appearance. The luxurious plating also extends to the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, the rim, and the edge.
