Product Description

A Mint first - the Mint's first rectangular celebration of Chinese culture! Brilliant vermilion red and gold hues grants blessings of good fortune and wealth on doors adorned with symbols of good luck! Shaped like a rectangle - get yours today!

A beautiful expression of the hopes for the year ahead, the ages-old tradition of hanging Fai Chun is a quintessential part of preparations for the Chinese New Year. This 99.99% pure silver rectangular coin recreates the auspicious symbols, colors and images of the banners that adorn doors as an invitation for luck and fortune to enter - and remain the whole year through.

Like a door adorned with traditional Fai Chun paper decorations, the design by Canadian artist Aries Cheung offers a festive greeting and a wish for luck and fortune throughout the year. Two vertical Chiuntao banners and the diamond-shaped Doufang at the center are brought to life by a deep red or vermilion application and the use of translucent hues, which mimics the look of traditional gold foil. Together, these rich colors magnify the symbolic meaning of the calligraphic characters for “good wishes” (to the right), “auspiciousness” (left) and “good luck” or “fortune” (in the center). This powerful blessing is further enhanced by symbols of good fortune, wealth and good luck, including a jade “ru yi” (right); an “auspicious” tangerine (left); and a repeating motif of a stylized bat or fú, which is homophonous with the word it surrounds.

Shaped like a door adorned with Fai Chun decorations for the Chinese New Year, this coin recreates the eye-catching banners that are a beautiful invitation for luck and fortune to enter. As in real life, the auspicious red color magnifies the meaning of the gold-colored characters and vibrant images that signify “good wishes,” “auspiciousness” and “good luck.” A special blessing to confer upon the recipient for throughout the coming year.
