Product Description

A low-mintage hologram proof of a sailing ship in a dramatic storm at sea!

Sold out at the Mint!Prepare to be swept away by the most majestic sight at sea - tall ships! This second entry in the fabulous Tall Ships Collection features a ketch as it passes Cape Diamond in Quebec. The sailors on board can be seen battening down the ship the as thunderheads roll in and brilliant lightning flashes.

Ketch Ship The ketch is similar to a yawl, but with its mizzen mast in front of the rudder. This magnificent ship is one of the few that survive from the many that plied the St. Lawrence Seaway and around Atlantic Canada in the 19th Century. However, the many yachts of today are, in fact, types of ketches now used for pleasure boating.

The Ketch Hologram Proof is the second in the very popular Tall Ships series.

Technology Note

The Royal Canadian Mint leads the world with its proprietary hologram technology, in which the hologram is actually minted on the coin. The ever-changing colors of the threatening sky shimmer and scintillate as you tilt the coin from side to side, resulting in a wondrous rainbow of colors that simulate the power of a storm at sea!
