Libra is the only astrological sign that is not represented by an animal or person. It is also the youngest of the 12 zodiac signs, some of its stars originally being associated as the claws of Cancer.
The constellation Libra is most frequently known as the scales of the Greek Goddess Astraea, who in mythology was the daughter of Themis from Atalanta. Astraea was said to have ascended to heaven carrying the Scales of Justice (or sometimes Balance) to become the Zodiac figure of Virgo. Modern astrologers note that Libra is most appealing as it is the sign at the high of the year, the harvest time, when all the rewards for the year's work are reaped.
The constellation is most often depicted as a classical style scale with two bowls dangling from a balancing rod.

The Sign of the Scales

In astrology the astrological signs of the twelve houses equal segments or divisions of the zodiac. According to astrological beliefs, celestial phenomena reflect or govern human activity on the principle of "as above, so below", so that the twelve signs at the same time are held to represent twelve basic personality types or characteristic modes of expression.
Those born under the sign of Libra are said to be fair, idealistic, charming, gentle, sensitive to others, cheerful, cooperative, artistic, diplomatic if perhaps manipulative, and graceful. They can also be seen as frivolous and flirty, pleasure oriented, and sometimes gullible or easily influenced.
