Product Description

Size, purity, rarity (only 500 struck!), and the most clever and wise of the animals, the Snake - the perfect storm of numismatic investment!

No small change here! This enormous, majestic coin represents a tremendous investment opportunity, struck in pure silver! The Perth Mint's most prestigious coins in its new Lunar Zodiac Series II are breathtakingly huge! At more than 100 mm in diameter, they are a full 4 inches across! Even more important is the mintage - only 500 of these silver kilograms will be struck for the entire world! This rarity is made all the more desirable by the Mint's execution of this intriguing animal motif in pure silver, artistically rendered in full proof finish! The fields are deeply mirrored, with the design accented in frosty white cameo relief, further enhancing an already handsome design (which is even nicer looking than the mint-supplied images suggest).

A deadly and dangerous, highly poisonous and venomous Eastern Brown Snake of Australia, ready to strike!Between the size of the tableau, the ultra-low mintage (only 500 total - truly rare!) & the beauty of the design, this coin can't fail to impress even the most jaded collector or investor! The only thing more impressive than this prodigious chunk of precious metal is our seemingly impossibly low price for such a rare and exceptional wonder!

The Year of the Snake - Intelligent and Clever!
Centuries ago, the Chinese invented a calendar based on the lunar (rather than the solar) cycle. There are twelve animals in the Chinese lunar zodiac, each corresponding in sequence to a year rather than a month.

A deadly and dangerous, highly poisonous and venomous Eastern Brown Snake of Australia, ready to strike! In 2013 we celebrate the Year of the Snake. According to tradition, people born during a Year of the Snake (1905, 1917, 1929, 1941, 1953, 1965, 1977, 1989, 2001, and 2013) are said to exhibit that animal’s attributes. Snake people often enjoy new ideas, innovative thoughts and progress, but some will reject advice from anyone but to themselves, although, most snake people are loyal friends and make great company.

The Snake is strongly associated with deep mysticism, valuable wisdom, and knowledge. Most snake people are enigmatic, deep thinking, and maybe the wisest of all Chinese Horoscope signs. Most snake people enjoy learning, reading, and eating good food. They can also be concerned about their outer appearance. Snakes' best attribute is their excellent ability to communicate with others and successfully engage in interesting conversations. For the Chinese people, the snake symbolizes intelligence, happiness and auspiciousness. In certain parts of China people call the snake the “dragon in heaven” or “celestial being”. At Dangfu in East China’s Anhui Province, people call the snake the “dragon at home”.

This is the fifth annual release in the Lunar Zodiac Series II from Australia!

Investment Note
It's obvious that this coin is gargantuan - it weighs one full kilogram of pure silver, and measures a full four inches in diameter and over a half-inch thick. But it's not just massive, this kilo silver proof is doubly rare! That's right, the total mintage is only five hundred, meaning only 500 people can ever enjoy the pride of ownership of this colossal beauty! Size, purity and rarity - the perfect storm of desirability make this a great buy and hold. Finally, consider how many poor collectors who, nine or ten years into the series, are going to want this then-long-gone rarity for their collection! Don't delay, opportunity is knocking - answer the door and snap this one up while you can!
