Product Description

Commemorate the 75th anniversary of World War II. A flight of Hawker Hurricane fighter planes flies through the skies over the English Channel during the Battle of Britain in 1940 on this one troy ounce pure silver dollar military proof!

In commemoration of the 75th anniversary of Second World War, Talisman Coins and the Perth Mint (Australia's precious metals experts) are proud to bring you this military-themed World War II silver dollar! Each one troy ounce, pure silver proof coin highlights the valor and sacrifices of a small group of dedicated fighter pilots from across the Commonwealth, who fought the Nazis in the skies above Europe to keep Britain free, when the entire globe was locked in the mortal struggle of freedom versus tyranny. The low mintage of just 5,000 will likely prove to be insufficient considering the fame the Battle of Britain has earned throughout all the free lands of the Commonwealth.

Battle of Britain Outer BoxThe Battle of Britain took place in the summer and autumn of 1940; it was the first major campaign of the Second World War to be fought entirely by air forces. It was also the battle that would decide the fate of the United Kingdom, and as a result, the outcome of the Second World War. During the Battle of Britain in World War II, the only thing standing between England and Nazi invasion was a small cadre of extremely brave fliers in their Hurricanes and Supermarine Spitfires. As Winston Churchill opined, "Never in the field of human conflict was so much owed by so many to so few.
